"Here we show" is a common term used in science papers to describe work performed. However, in many cases especially a few decades ago papers were written by sole authors. When Jack H. Hetherington, a physicists and mathematician, received a review about the use of the "royal we" in one of his papers he had two choices: to change the language from "we" to "I" or find a coauthor. He chose the latter and added his cat chester to the paper. F.D.C Willard, the second author on the paper, "Two-, Three-, and Four-Atom Exchange Effects in bcc \(^3\)H" \cite{Hetherington_1975} stands for Felics Domestics Chester Willard, the name of his cat and his cats father.
